My Other Hats

In addition to the owl hats, I had a few customers challenge my creativity. Since animal hats were popping up all over the department stores, I had a friend who requested for a kitty hat.

I think I got one very satisfied little girl!

I had another lady request for a HELLO KITTY hat. Here is my version:

What I loved most was the freedom some gave me to just "make" them something. I didn't come up with these on my own. These patterns are both from Vallieskids. She is SO talented!! I had visited her blog a few years ago when I first started crocheting. These pictures are my versions of her patterns.
This one she named "Bottoms Up":

This one is named "Quickly Brimmed".

I made one for a customer:

I just had to make one for myself. Here's my little model showing off my finished product:

OWL HATS

Owls are the "IN" thing for 2011. I found a couple of crochet patterns online for owl hats and decided to give it a try.

My first one is from Daisy Cottage Designs:

The other pattern I found on Crochetville (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=122078):

This is the pattern I used to create Savannah's Owl hat. Of course, I also had to make one for Gaby and Nina. My neighbor was next in line. Then my niece. I had my own walking advertisement for my work and was starting to get orders from other people too.

For the last months of 2011, I spent every spare moment crocheting owl hats for my first customers.

"WHOOO...WHOOO wants a hat? DO YOU?"

Our Little Itty Bitty Baby

It feels like we have been waiting a long time to finally meet you! I cannot believe how big you are already.

Happy New Year

Another year gone....

Every year seems to be going by more quickly than the one before. I haven't accomplished all that I had on my 2011 Resolutions yet. Even though I feel like I am falling behind, and far from being where I want to be as a wife and mother, I am so thankful for another year to start fresh. Well....no quite so "fresh". I still have everything from the previous years tacked on, but feeling a little relieved that there's another 365 days to work on my goals!

Happy NEW YEAR!!!

Happy Birthday to ME!

This year...

No birthday dinner
No birthday cake or ice cream

Morning sickness has taken over! It started up just before Christmas. I was lucky to have gotten through cooking for Christmas Eve. After that, it went downhill. I cannot smell food, look at food, or even think of food. It all brings about the same result.

I am quite sad not being able to enjoy and indulge in all the yummy, delicious visions before me.

We will just have to celebrate when my stomach is more agreeable.

Santa Claus Came to Town

Savannah ran into our room very early on Christmas day. She was so excited!

The previous night, she was worried that Santa wasn't going to come to our house and deliver presents. The reason being that they did not write him their letters this year. She wasn't falling for my explanations that Santa was still coming, and that he knew exactly what they wanted--I had gotten his emergency contact information and emailed him everything he needed to know.

Now, here she was, sitting on our bed, describing to me what she found when she went downstairs to check their stockings.

The brownies were gone! All Santa left behind were tiny crumbs and a napkin with evidence that he wiped his mouth.
